Architectural Fabrics

Architectural fabrics is the broader family behind tensile architecture: membrane materials, translucent facades, shading systems, and interior tensile elements, all built on high-tenacity base fabrics with engineered coatings or films. Where “membrane” usually implies a primary structural roof, architectural fabrics also include the lighter elements — shade sails, acoustic and light-diffusing panels, facade cladding — that borrow the same technology for smaller spans.
The Range in Practice

Structural membranes for canopies, roofs, and long-span covers, where tensile values and seam strength dominate the specification.
Shade and shading fabrics for entrances, courtyards, parking, and walkways — lighter weights, high UV stability.
Facade and cladding textiles, including perforated and translucent options that let buildings breathe while shedding rain.
Interior tensile systems such as stretch ceilings and light-diffusing linings.

Choosing Within the Family
Two questions sort the field quickly. First, is the fabric structural? If engineers calculate with it, tensile strength, tear propagation, and seam efficiency become non-negotiable line items, and fire certification follows local code. Second, what does the surface need to do? Exterior surfaces need UV-stable lacquers and colour fastness; interior surfaces trade weathering for acoustics, translucency, or printability. Between those answers lies a fairly narrow set of candidate constructions, which is exactly where a datasheet conversation pays off.
Kezhibo manufactures architectural fabrics on controlled coating lines, offering both standard grades and project-tuned rolls — custom colour, lacquer, and fire-retardant packages — under ISO 9001 certified processes. We supply fabricators and contractors across Europe and Southeast Asia and are used to coordinating with structural engineers during specification. Send us the project brief, and we will respond with candidate constructions, samples, and lead times.
