Membrane Structure
Membrane structures combine engineered fabric with supporting steel, cables, and rigging to create roofs and enclosures that would be impractical in rigid construction: large clear spans, sculpted double-curved forms, fast installation, and a fraction of the dead weight. The fabric is only half the system — the geometry does the structural work, keeping the membrane permanently in tension so it resists wind uplift and shedding loads without flapping.
From Concept to Fabrication
A membrane structure project moves through distinct stages: form-finding by the engineer, patterning (turning the 3D surface into cutting strips), shop fabrication of welded panels, and site installation with staged tensioning. Material decisions lock in early, because fabric stretch behaviour and stiffness feed directly into the patterning software. This is why fabricators prefer to fix the membrane grade before patterning begins, and why consistent, well-documented fabric properties matter as much as headline tensile numbers.
Where These Structures Deliver Most Value
Sports and events: stadium roofs, grandstand canopies, temporary event halls.
Transport: airport and station canopies, walkway and entrance covers, parking shades.
Commercial architecture: atria, courtyards, and facade features where daylight and form are the point.
Industrial and storage: salt and bulk storage covers, wastewater tank covers where corrosion makes steel roofs unattractive.
Kezhibo supplies the fabric side of these projects — PVC-coated membrane materials produced on knife-coating lines, with FR-certified options and project-specific colours and lacquers. We work with fabricators and contractors from specification through delivery, backed by ISO 9001 certified production and regular exports to Europe and Southeast Asia. If you are planning a membrane structure, send us the fabric requirements from your engineer and we will propose grades, provide samples, and quote production.
